Reverend Darlean “Kisha” Cohen is a woman of God who willingly shares her God-given gifts of singing, preaching, mentoring, and teaching to enrich the kingdom of God. Rev. Cohen was raised by God-fearing, supportive parents who steadfastly kept her uplifted in prayer.  After a series of twists and turns in her life, Rev. Cohen finally accepted the call of God on her life and was granted a license to preach in 1998 under Overseer Paula Ford.  Rev. Cohen graduated from New York Theological Seminary (Certificate in Preaching & Social Justice) and Pillar College (BA in Psychology and Counseling). Rev. Cohen is currently enrolled at Drew University with an anticipated Masters in Pastoral Care and Counseling.

In addition to conducting praise and worship conferences, Rev. Cohen mentors individuals, choirs, and praise teams in cultivating their gifts and talents for singing. Rev. Cohen is no stranger to using her God-given skills to stand, teach, and mentor in the gaps.  Continuing to follow God’s will, Rev. Cohen was led to teach more about God and founded Uninhibited Worship Ministries. This is a ministry with the philosophy that mentors and teaches young adults about serving God. In 2000, Rev. Cohen helped to develop the Youth Retreat for Zion Holy Church and still serves on the Youth Retreat Committee Board.

Rev. Kisha Cohen is the proud mother of three children: Denzel, Tyshana, and Jada, and a grandmother of five.  Rev. Cohen is currently a Family Counselor for the Department of Family Services (DFS) for New Jersey.

Rev. Cohen joined the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, NJ, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ralph M. Branch, in 2020. She continued to grow in the ministry of Preaching and Teaching. Everywhere God has sent Cohen was only to prepare her for her current charge and elevation in ministry, as a Pastor.

Rev. Cohen was called to Pastor the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Dover, NJ on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Rev. Cohen stepped into the pulpit as pastor on Sunday, October 6, ready to BUILD and has been preaching, teaching, leading, and winning souls for Christ. Their theme and mission at Zion is “Building God’s Kingdom by Grace! Faith-Based, Community Centered with the Holy Spirit as Our Guide.” Pastor Cohen is leading and living by the word 2 Peter 3:18:

 

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be Glory both now and forever! Amen”
